Great Brook Easement

Conservation Easement

February 15, 2018

This 12-acre conservation easement is small but mighty! The land features a ½ mile of frontage along Great Brook in Jackson. In placing a conservation easement on nearly 12 acres of riparian forestland along the Brook, Alice Proctor, a native of the Mount Washington Valley, has fulfilled her wish to keep her family’s land as habitat for wildlife. The property is near several other conservation lands in Jackson and, with its proximity to the White Mountain National Forest, expands the town’s natural and scenic resources. Most importantly, Alice’s donation contributes to the long-term protection of the water quality of Great Brook, a tributary of the Wildcat River, both of which are federally designated as “Wild and Scenic” as part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
