Gross Conservation Easement

Conservation Easement

November 27, 2007

Located on scenic Potter Road, an easement on the Gross property protects the natural scenery along approximately 507 feet of forested shoreline on Conway Lake, which is a public water of the State of New Hampshire under the provisions of NH RSA 271:20. Nearly all of the shoreline of Red Lodge Cove is now protected by conservation easements generously donated to the Land Trust by several landowners, including the Cobbs family. The woodlands on the property provide a vegetative buffer along the water frontage, which serves as a natural filter to protect Conway Lake from contaminated surface runoff, provides habitat for wildlife, protects aesthetic qualities of the lake environment and helps prevent erosion of the shoreline. The Gross easement is adjacent to other properties protected by conservation easements held by the Land Trust.
“Donating the easement on our property was important to us fundamentally because of our commitment to conservation. We also feel privileged to have found a home on beautiful Conway Lake and hope it remains as natural as possible, forevermore. We are delighted to be members of such a caring, committed and vibrant community as well”
