Thorne/Whalen Family Conservation Easement

Conservation Easement

December 21, 2007

The Thorne/Whalen easement permanently protects views of 425 feet of the forested shoreline along Conway Lake and nearly 1,300 feet of natural, substantially undeveloped landscape fronting scenic Potter Road in South Conway. Potter Road is designated by the Town of Conway as a Scenic Road under the provisions of NH RSA 231:157.
The easement also protects the quality of ground and surface water and wetland resources of Conway Lake, which is a public water of the State of New Hampshire, and is adjacent to lands already protected by the Land Trust.
The Thorne/Whalen easement is consistent with New Hampshire RSA Chapter 483-B, The Comprehensive Shoreline Protection Act which states: “The shorelands of the state are among its most valuable and fragile natural resources and their protection is essential to maintain the integrity of public waters.”
