From the staff and board of directors at the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust, thank you to all of those who participated in #GivingTuesday in 2017. We are so humbled by the support our members show us year after year; it is truly amazing. Thank you.

The Upper Saco Valley Land Trust has joined #GivingTuesday; a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage a spirit of giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. We are joining other nonprofit organizations across the nation to inspire members and friends to take a moment this holiday season to give back to the communities that we call home.

#GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, occurring this year on November 28th. After the widely recognized shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks-off the holiday giving season! The idea is to inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in meaningful ways to the charities and causes they support and believe in.

“People choose to live and visit the Mount Washington Valley and western Maine because of the beauty that surrounds us here. For the Land Trust, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to reach out to community members who understand the value the land we protect”, says William Abbott, Upper Saco Valley Land Trust’s Executive Director. “As a small, membership-driven non-profit, the Land Trust relies on membership donations to fuel its land protection projects.” The Upper Saco Valley Land Trust has a goal of engaging 25 new members and 25 existing members on #GivingTuesday, November 28th, 2017.

Together with its partners, the Land Trust has completed 61 land conservation projects, protecting over 11,000 acres from development. An exciting slate of community focused conservation easement projects are scheduled for 2017! Won’t you helps us in protecting the special lands of the upper Saco River region on #GivingTuesday, a day of giving and sharing?
