Dundee Hike
USVLT’s Executive Director William Abbott and USVLT’s President Doug Burnell will lead a hike in the Dundee Community Forest project area. Doug will provide a history of European settlement and land use patterns and William will discuss how the current composition of the forests is a direct result of the area’s history and land use. William will also point out several rare and endangered plants on the property, including the Canada Mountain rice-grass, known from only two locations in New Hampshire.
The walk will take place on the southern- and eastern-facing slopes of Thorn Mountain in Bartlett. This outing will be rigorous since a good portion of the morning will be spent bush-whacking off trail. Please consider a different outing if you find hiking on steep ground with unsure footing challenging. Bring your cameras, ample water, bug repellent, and a snack or two.
Space is limited; reservations required. Please email info@usvlt.org to register.
