When: Saturday June 7th, 2025 10:00am-1:00pm

Join the Upper Saco Valley Land Trust for an Invasive Plant Workshop at Dundee Community Forest on June 7th, 2025! We're teaming up for a day of invasive plant education, removal, and habitat restoration. No experience? No problem! You'll learn how to ID plants and the best ways to remove them.

Our efforts will focus on the Tin Mountain Lot, which is home to the historic Ham House, Danny's Brook, and old growth forests. Unfortunately, invasives like black swallowwort and buckthorn have significantly impacted the native habitat in the area and containing their spread has been an ongoing effort. Every bit of help is greatly appreciated!

What we'll be doing: The day will kick off with a brief training on plant ID and removal, after which we'll break into teams, gear-up, and focus on key areas to help control the spread. We'll be digging, cutting, and removing invasive plants including buckthorn and swallow-wort to help restore the native habitat.

Good to know:

  • Beginners are welcome.
  • We'll have all the tools and training you need. Please consider bringing extra loppers if you have them.
  • Dress for the weather! Bring your, boots, work gloves, hats, bug spray and sunscreen
  • Bring water and a snack to keep you going.
  • Children under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.

Please contact Cindy Sellers (csellers@usvlt.org) to sign up and receive updates as we get closer to the event.
