The Dr. Michael Cline Memorial Forest is owned by Tin Mountain Conservation Center (TMCC) and protected by an easement held by USVLT.  The land is located on Bald Hill Road in Albany and is part of a much larger “conservation block” of USVLT easements, since it is adjacent to Tin Mountain Conservation Center’s Rockwell Preserve as well as the Albany Town Forest.

The protection of the 90-acre parcel was part of a larger, two-parcel partnership project with TMCC where we raised funds to purchase both this parcel and the Pine Hill Community Forest (in Conway) from one landowner. Key conservation values of the parcel include 2,036 feet of scenic, undeveloped road frontage on Bald Hill Road, connectivity to other conserved lands and 3+ acres of Appalachian Oak-Mountain Laurel Forest, a rare natural community within the state of New Hampshire.

The property expands Tin Mountain’s trail network from the Rockwell Sanctuary and strengthens the surrounding block of conservation lands that connect into the Albany Town Forest and White Mountain National Forest. Future land use plans for the property include further expansion of the trail network and expansion of outdoor education programming for TMCC. The land will continue to be sustainably managed by TMCC as a working forest. To learn more about Tin Mountain's campus in Albany, visit their website.
